There are two big reasons to install this LED light kit on your trailer.
First, this kit uses LED light technology. LEDs last up to 100,000 hours. Compare that with those incandescent bulbs you are constantly replacing. LEDs also use 1/10th the power of convential light bulbs.
Second, these lights are completely waterproof and submersible, and the LEDs are sealed in epoxy. This means you will get the full life from the LEDs because moisture cannot get to them or the internal wiring.
This LED trailer light kit meets the requirements of SAE/DOT/FMVSS standards for trailers over and under 80" wide when properly installed.
Say "Good-Bye" to light bulbs and corrosion!
LED Submersible Trailer Light Installation Instructions
Tail Lights | Left Turn / Brake Lights | Right Turn / Brake Lights | Ground | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Wire Harness | Brown | Yellow | Green | White |
Trailer Lights | Black | Red | Red | White |
Please read all instructions carefully before beginning.
Vehicle Connection
Connect the wires of the 4-wire vehicle harness to the vehicle wiring. Connect the BROWN wire to a vehicle TAIL LIGHT wire, YELLOW wire to vehicle LEFT TURN and STOP wire, and GREEN wire to vehicle RIGHT TURN and STOP wire. Attach the white wire to the vehicle's frame.
NOTE: Some vehicles have rear turn signals separate from the brake lights. These vehicles will need a turn signal converter in order to connect them to standard trailer lights.
Light Installation
Mount the trailer lights with the side marker lights to the outside of the trailer.
NOTE: The light with the license plate light and bracket is mounted on the left side of the trailer.
Trailer Harness Connections
Before you begin, check to be sure that the included 20' 4-wire harness is long enough to travel the length of your trailer and still leave you with slack for connection to the tow vehicle. If not, you will need to purchase additional 4-wire harness. Also, check distance between the trailer lights to be sure that the 5' 3-wire harness will reach. If not, you will need additional harness or hook up wire.
Begin at the left-side light. Using the 3-wire section of trailer harness, connect the YELLOW harness wire to the RED light wire, BROWN harness wire to the BLACK light wire, and WHITE harness wire to the WHITE light wire.
At the right-side light, use a butt connector to connect the two YELLOW harness wires together. Then, twist the BROWN harness wires together, insert into one end of a blue butt connector, and crimp. Twist the two WHITE harness wires together, insert into a ring tongue, and crimp. Crimp another ring tongue on the WHITE wire of the right-side light.
Complete the right-side light connections by attaching the two WHITE wire ring tongues to the trailer using one screw. Connect the BROWN harness wire butt connector to the BLACK light. Finally, connect the GREEN harness wire to the RED light wire.
Finally, run the 4-wire trailer harness to the front of the trailer securing it with the included frame clips. Be careful to avoid sharp edges or pinch points.
NOTE: Please be aware that this is a universal kit and additional wire and connectors may be required to complete your installation.
