What is an Electronic Logging Device

ELDs are intended to significantly reduce paperwork for operators, support driver privacy, prevent harassment, enable compliance certification and resist tampering. They make tracking hours of service easier and more accurate while ultimately improving road safety. Once fitted with an EZ-ELD, your trucks will be fully compliant with the FMCSA's ELD regulations without the need for added extras or further investment. The unit is simply fitted to the truck's diagnostics port, the driver securely connects to the device with the mobile app and that's it. They're ready to hit the road.

Who needs an ELD?

The ELD Rule applies to most commercial vehicle companies and drivers currently required to prepare and maintain Records of Duty Status (RODS). This includes commercial buses and trucks and Canadian and Mexican domiciled drivers traveling into the US.

Those not required to use an ELD – but who may choose to – include:

• Drivers who use paper logs for no more than 8 days during any 30-day period.
• Driveaway-towaway drivers (transporting an empty vehicle for sale, lease or repair).
• Drivers of vehicles manufactured before model year 2000.

When do you need to have an ELD installed

Operators and drivers using paper logs or logging software will need to install an approved ELD by December 18, 2017.

Operators and drivers already using a compliant Automatic On-board Recorders (AOBRD) will need to install an approved ELD by December 16, 2019.

Free software subscription through 2017. Starting Jan. 1st 2018 a $15 per month or $150 annual software subscription is required
